Season 8 Idol finalist Scott MacIntyre releases his first book called By Faith, Not By Sight, tomorrow. In the book, Scott talks about the thrill of competing on Idol as well as some of the most difficult struggles of his life and how he never gave up, even when circumstances threatened to take everything away.

“I’ve experienced some incredible highs and incredible lows in my life, and I want to encourage my readers that no obstacle is too big to overcome if you walk by faith, not by sight.”

But the book goes far beyond what Scott shared on Idol – blindness was only the beginning.  At 19 yrs old, Scott’s world was rocked by a life-threatening illness. “I found out I had stage-four kidney failure, and pretty soon I was too sick to even play the piano in my own living room. It was a challenge having to compete on Idol without my sight, but I was just grateful to be on any stage, let alone the American Idol stage, after having almost lost my life.”

“Scott is a brilliant example of achievement in spite of adversity,” says music legend Alice Cooper who has performed with Scott. “His passion, faith, and sheer talent shine in this book.”

Outstanding graduate, Marshall scholar, inspirational speaker, recording artist, American Idol finalist… now Scott can add “author” to his impressive list of accomplishments. Find out how he learned to play the piano at 3 yrs old, how he started college at 14, how he found the love of his life, and how he overcame his disability to become the first blind finalist ever on American Idol.

Scott has partnered with Donate Life America to help raise awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation. “By registering to be an organ donor, you can give so much hope to countless people who are in danger of losing their lives – just like I was.  It’s a way you can literally give the gift of life to others after you leave this earth.”

This spring/summer, Scott is performing in cities across the US as part of the Women of Faith One Day tour. He will be signing CDs and his new book after every concert, so be sure to check out for more info.
